Bernard Khoury: Plan B (Post-War Beirut)
Lebanese architect Bernard Khoury describes post-war Beirut “as a hyper-contemporary version of the capitalist city in a state of anarchy”. He feels that recent developments and buildings reflect a literal translation of local building laws and regulations that generate a highly congested cityscape of bad developers’ architecture. Within his projects such as two nightclubs, Centrale and B0178, and a recent adaptation of a dome left in ruins, he identifies exceptional opportunities to explore architectural parameters that go beyond the conventional building types and other forms of exploitation models.
Venue: Geological Society, Piccadilly, Royal Academy of Arts, London W1
Time: 6.30pm–7.30pm
Tickets: £10/5 students (includes exhibition entry and a drink). Click here to download a booking form for this event, or telephone 020 7300 5839.
